Connected by the red thread

psychic observationson October 19th, 2010No Comments

“An invisible thread connects those who are destined to meet regardless of time, place or circumstance. The red thread may stretch or tangle, but it will never break.” – Ancient Chinese proverb.

I came across this quote this morning as I flicked through a magazine while enjoying my morning coffee. It hit a chord with me, not only because it’s a beautiful sentiment, but because I happen to see a great deal of truth in the proverb.

I don’t think there is too much in this life which is truly predetermined. Our free will certainly plays a significant part in how our lives pan out. But, there are certain souls our soul is meant to work with, to help us learn and grow. By the same token, we are also here to help teach and nurture someone else’s soul. These people are our soul mates. Our free will may stretch the thread, or may tangle it along the way, but can never break it. The idea that those we are meant to meet will turn up regardless of time, place or circumstance means we can’t really get it wrong. We can’t make a wrong turn, or a wrong decision which results in us not meeting the people we are meant to meet. The red thread connects us and ensures we meet at the right time, at the right place – for both of us.  Not everyone we meet will be connected to us by this red thread, but those that are, are certainly very special.

All of the people who enter our lives are there for a reason. It certainly got me thinking about where my red thread has already been weaved, stretched and tangled, and thinking about where it may be weaved in the future. Who are the people in your life connected by red thread? What are the people in your life there to teach you about yourself? Even those people we find challenging are there to teach us something, so although it’s hard, we need to embrace those people and challenges too.

Although the red thread can never break, it would seem to me that it should be taken care of.

Books you are meant to read

automatic writing, guides, psychic observationson March 26th, 2010No Comments

Ever had the same book recommended to you by several people in a short period of time? Ever had an experience where someone has offered you a book without prompting and it has turned out to be exactly what you needed? Chances are your guides are trying to get your attention on a particular topic so be sure you pay attention!

This has happened to me on several occasions. The most recent was just last week. A client and friend came for a reading and brought with her a copy of a book she’d mentioned to me when I saw her at the Boutique Markets the week before. The book was Sonia Choquette’s Ask Your Guides: Connecting to Your Divine Support System.  It’s a great book which introduces the range of guides available to you and how they can help. Sonia provides information about guardian angels as well, describing the difference between them and our spirit guides. I’d recommend this book to anyone wanting to know more about their guides and how to communicate with them. There was a great chapter on automatic writing too, which I have found to be the best way to receive information for yourself. This booked turned up to remind me to I have more than one guide available to help me and that there is a world of support available if I just ask.

Two other occasions come to mind when I think of how certain books make their way to you in unusual ways and I want to share them with you here. read more

What’s on the cards?

psychic observationson March 18th, 2010No Comments

Over the course of a week’s worth of readings, it’s not unusual for the same card to be turned over a number of times by several clients in separate readings. For example, on Sunday while I was giving readings at the Boutique Markets, several people in a row turned over the ‘healing’ card. With 44 cards in the deck and each client asked to shuffle the cards then split the deck into three piles, it’s pretty unlikely this is purely coincidence.

While the cards indicate the type of information to relay to the client, it’s unusual for the same card to have the exact same meaning for two different people. This is where my guides help me during a reading. If you’re using the cards at home, this is where your own intuition comes into play.

I use Doreen Virtue’s Angel Cards during my readings. I’ve since bought other decks of hers but I always come back to these. My interpretation of the cards has always been based on intuition and opening to my Guides. In November last year I completed Doreen Virtue’s Angel Intuitive workshop, which means I am now also ‘qualified’ to give angel readings. It still works exactly the same way for me.

For anyone using the cards at home, here’s a quick run-down.

  1. Sit quietly and try and quiet your mind. If you’re inclined to meditate, it’s useful to do so beforehand. If not, just sit still, focus on your breath for a few minutes until you feel a sense of calm come over you.
  2. Ask your guides to help give you whatever information you need to know. You can ask a specific question or you can simply see what comes up. However you do it, it is important to ask!
  3. Shuffle the cards. When you feel ready, select cards from the deck. I usually like to pick three cards at random when reading for myself and usually feel guided as to which ones to choose. It’s up to you how many you’d like to choose. Also pay attention to any cards which ‘jump’ out from the deck. I find these usually hold a more pressing issue to be aware of.
  4. If you have an accompanying booklet, refer to the notes. Whatever jumps out at you is usually what is most important. You may find something draws your attention in the artwork on the card. You may just get a sense of what the card is trying to tell you. This may come from a thought, a feeling, a picture you see and so on. If it doesn’t make sense to you, ask your guides for further clarification and draw another card.
  5. Write down and date your observations against the question you asked. It’s useful to go back later and see whether your intuition played out the way you thought.

Seeing the signs

automatic writing, guides, psychic observationson December 8th, 2009No Comments

If we ask for it, we are frequently given signs and specific direction from our guides to help us in our lives – the trick is we often miss it. The signs and symbols can be quite subtle and sometimes we are waiting for all of our problems and questions to be answered in a far more dramatic way.

This was reinforced to me today and yesterday. Almost every day I channel my guides through automatic writing. Over the past few weeks, I’ve been asking my guides to help me see some situations in my life more clearly and they’ve repeatedly explained how things will most likely pan out – although I’ve been frustrated as it seemed to me that nothing was really moving in the direction they had said, nor was it happening at a speed I’ve been happy with!

Yesterday in my writings, my guides gave me a very specific sign to watch out for (thankfully, because I was becoming impatient waiting for the big things to happen!). I was told I’d get a random reference to a 50 cent piece during the day and when I got this sign, I was to take it as confirmation that everything is exactly where it needs to be and unfolding as they’ve said it would.  I was also told to pay attention to the people that come into my life and that they would reinforce what I’m meant to be doing.

I didn’t get my 50 cent sign yesterday (although it did turn up today – more on that later!). read more

Get creative

psychic observationson November 13th, 2009No Comments

The importance of creativity comes up frequently in my readings – both for people who work in creative fields and those who simply need to find and/or invest time in their own creative projects. Despite having worked in communications for years and being surrounded by very talented and innovative minds, I never really valued the true importance of creativity. It’s only now that the topic has been presented in my readings for others that I’ve actually put two and two together!

Through these readings, I’ve learnt that having some form of creative outlet helps to channel your energy and can also help clear through some of the blocks you may be facing. (I recently wrote an article for Stylescene on other ways you can clear your energy – you can read it here). In fact, when any activity is pursued purely for the sake of enjoying said activity (rather than focusing on a deadline, or payment or some other outcome) the greatest reward can be reaped.
When working on something creative or artistic, it forces you to move out of your current headspace, to think differently, to act more playfully, to free yourself from the confines of your everyday life. As long as you’re not concerned with the outcome, when you can lose yourself in the imagination, the creation, the design – that’s where the real value is.
When that happens, it can have the same effect as when you view the world through your heart, rather than the process-driven way of the head. The result: you begin to loosen your grip of control on your life and what’s happening within it. When you aren’t trying to control your life, there is space for ‘something bigger’ to come in and solve your cares and concerns for you.
It doesn’t matter what the creative activity is – it just matters that you try to find one. Or try to find many for that matter. It might be singing, dancing, writing, painting, cooking, needlepoint, drawing, woodwork, gardening, sewing or any number of other activities… You don’t have to be particularly good at it, but allow yourself time to get creative.
For me, despite always having enjoyed writing and having worked in communications for years, I wasn’t 100% sure what my creative outlet might be. So, I set about finding it. For months, I collected magazines and sifted through them, ripping out pictures of things which inspired me, things I found aesthetically pleasing, things that invoked particular responses in me. Along the way, I also stumbled upon some great creative blogs, especially from illustrators and visited some really cool markets such as the Finders Keepers markets recently here in Brisbane (and which are also held in Sydney and Melbourne) and the Boutique Markets at Portside (Brisbane).
For those looking for their own creative spark, here are some of the sites I find inspiring and might help to get your creative cogs turning too.
www.simplyphoebe.com.au (who also happens to be a friend of mine!)
www.frankie.com.au  (from the ever-so-creative Frankie Magazine)
http://benzen-illustration.blogspot.com/  (cool illustrator I stumbled across)
http://mondayproject.blogspot.com/  (a great blog which actually sets creative projects each month which you can submit. Or do as I do and simply use it as a catalyst for your own pieces each month)

Letting go

psychic observationson July 29th, 2009No Comments

As many of you have kindly pointed out in the past month or so, it’s been a little while since I have updated this blog… and in sitting down to write this entry, I have no idea where to start as it feels like everything and nothing has changed since I last wrote.

The biggest change for me is that I decided to leave my job and pursue my readings on a full time basis. It’s interesting to me how things turn out and if ever there is an example of something bigger at play in our lives, it’s the way things are turning out for me now. read more

A day in the life of a psychic

psychic observationson May 18th, 2009No Comments

Living my life can really be quite interesting! Here’s a collection of funny things which have happened in the past couple of weeks and are examples of what happens to me on a daily basis.

- My sister and I are looking at buying a house. We were sharing property descriptions from realestate.com.au and I told her I definitely wasn’t interested in her top pick because the deceased female owner of the property was still there. I wouldn’t even go and inspect it, I could simply tell from the photos on the website. My sister later checked it out on some real estate program and, yes, there was a ‘little old lady’ who lived in the house and it had only ever had one owner. Not surprisingly, my sister was happy to put this one off the list. read more
